Biodiesel-Research ensures market survival

09 December 2020 – In the period from 18 to 22 January 2021 the international congress “Fuels of the Future 2021” will take place as an online event. The congress is the leading event of the European biofuel industry and at the same time an important discussion forum for the German, European and international development of renewable mobility. The aim of the International Congress is to provide participants with an up-to-date status report on the many different legislative initiatives and to discuss corresponding recommendations for action, to present current market developments and project examples of renewable mobility, and to provide a broad forum for the exchange of experience.

Among the total of 15 sessions of the event, the fourth session is dedicated to the topic “Biodiesel – Research ensures market survival” from different perspectives. In this session on 19.01.2021 from 14:00 hrs, Dr. Klaus Lucka from TEC4FUELS GmbH will explain, along with other speakers, research results on the topic of “Aging products in middle distillates with FAME components as admixture components” in his presentation. FAME as a polar admixture component can lead to a faster aging of the fuel mixture in a non-polar base fuel, which can be seen in phase separation as well as sediment formation and microbial growth. Under unfavorable circumstances, this can lead to malfunctions in the application technology or even to system failures. In addition to the mechanisms by which fuel aging develops, Klaus Lucka will present strategies for avoiding aging products or delaying fuel aging.
